Jamaica Inn

Not open but we're still busy!

Making the Inn all the better for when we reopen!

We're refurbishing our very oldest bedrooms.

Looking to make the best of a bad situation whilst closed, we've been taking full advantage of having an empty Inn.
Bedrooms 4, 5 and 6 the original bedrooms dating back to 1750 have been completely gutted (including that dreadful chip paper removed!), replastered in rough old-style then decorated, floors sound-proofed as these rooms are directly above the bar, new carpets, ‘old’ looking black radiators, new curtains and lots more.
The iconic four-poster beds will remain having been carefully deconstructed, stored and are about to be re-installed as these rooms are completed.  But don’t worry, the rooms will look even older!

Investing In Our Cellar

While the bar is dry, it's the perfect time to re-floor our cellar.  Empty of barrels it’s being re-laid as we speak

Newer rooms also being refurbished

10 of our newer rooms are also having their refurbishment and redecoration completed and bathrooms brought right up to date. Having no guests around sure makes this work a lot easier – the corridors are packed with furniture!  New carpets and curtains, furniture reconditioned, new artwork, cute bunny light fittings, new bathrooms including illuminated large mirrors but still preserving the charm of these popular bedrooms that include our ‘dog-friendlies’.

Looking To The Future

Jamaica Inn is a ‘green’ place to visit – as well as things like our heating and hot water being fuelled by wood pellets, we have just made 4 electric car charging bays available in our carpark. More plans we are actively working on during lockdown is for holiday caravaners to stay in our west field and a swimming pool, spa and gym etc at the far east end of the Inn.

Lockdown is tough on all of us  - our staff and our customers - but we hope you're keeping well, staying safe and doing as well as you can in these unprecedented times.
Despite the lockdown, we're doing everything we can to ensure that once we are allowed to reopen, Jamaica Inn, will be even better for you.  We look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
